(BRIDGEPORT, Conn.) New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello said that the team will play their home preseason games at Webster Bank Arena, according to the Stamford Advocate.

This Islanders will do so because their new home arena, UBS Arena at Belmont Park, will not be completed by the start of the season. The plan right now is for the Islanders to begin their season on the road until the arena is operational.

The Islanders last played a preseason game in Bridgeport in 2019 and have played eight since Bridgeport became the host of their AHL team in 2003.

The Islanders playoff run came to an end last Friday with a 1-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Fans were able to celebrate, however, in Game 6 when the Islanders won in overtime to give Nassau Coliseum a proper sendoff.
