Los Angeles is a paradise for shopping addicts like me.

You can find whatever you wish for and, if you are lucky enough, you can score great pieces for your closet with a few bucks.

One of the best ways to do that is to become a thrifter and learn how to dig in second-hand shops.

Or vintage shops to make it a little bit more glamour.

I started thrifting back in 2010, and since then, I became a good client of my favorite spots in town.

All of them are located between Melrose Avenue, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood Boulevard.

So it was simple to make a Thrift-Day once a month and have fun.

During the pandemic, these shops were forced to closure, and most of them moved to the virtual shopping option.

Now that we are back in real-life shopping, I want to give you a few tips to shop safely and the list of the best shops for me.

Many of them are located between Hollywood and Melrose.

But there are also good options on the other side of Los Angeles.

So let's go shopping!

Of course, thrift stores seem sketchy at first for some people.

But since I started shopping there, I never had any problem with anything - even when I was cashless and used my ATM card for payment.

Thrift Stores are nowadays more likely a sophisticated boutique than a confused hangar full of random items.

So go in with an open mind, and if you are afraid of being scammed - don't worry about it.

These are legit businesses of people with a huge passion for fashion and giving a second life to precious clothes and shoes.

Thrift (store) is an informal term for a type of second-hand goods store. The definition is most often used in the United States, and may sometimes refer to different stores.

I was born in Italy, and I moved to Los Angeles when I was twenty-eight years old for a few time.

For me, thrifting has always been something special, and my parents used to buy me lovely pieces from the first time I heard them talking about it.

You can find vintage collections of Chanel, Missoni, Gucci, Armani, Dior.

You name it, they have it.

Once I got a vintage Missoni sweater for four dollars.

One of the most iconic places; where to shop luxury items pre-owned is What Goes Around Comes Around, located in Beverly Hills at 9520 Brighton Way.

It is not a low-budget second-hand shop, but it has some vintage pieces that you won't find anywhere else.

One of my most favorite shops in Los Angeles.

This is partly because of their extensive offer of Dr.Martens but also because of their great prices.

Here I bought one of my most appreciated night dresses for less than ten dollars.

In this shop, you can sell, buy and trade your items.

A great opportunity to renovate your wardrobe every year.

They have multiple locations, but my favorite one; is the shop on Melrose because I think that the range of items offered matches my style better.

Melrose Trading Post.

This flea market is an institution of Melrose.

This market takes place every Sunday and with an entrance ticket of five dollars, is a great outdoor experience.

I love so much the Argentinian empanadas that they sell here in the Purple Section.

Grabbing a bite when you are shopping is always a good idea.

They also play live music, and now, after the pandemic break, the bands are back playing their tunes at the market.

I found many of the vintage pieces I wear daily: leather jackets, blazers, scarves...

But also hand-made goods and artisanal items.

As per their official website, these are the rules post-pandemic for visitors and vendors:

• Vendors and customers who are vaccinated do not have to wear a mask; as of June 15th, 2021.
• For anyone not fully vaccinated, please continue to wear a face-covering or mask and maintain a physical distance of 6 feet between yourself and others.
• Vaccination status is voluntary / self-reported. The Staff will not ask for proof of vaccination before entry. We trust you will protect yourself if you are vulnerable.

• Enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces throughout the day
• Hand sanitizer units are stationed throughout the property.
• Water fountains are not available; bottled water is available for purchase, or you can bring your own.
• Contactless ticket options are available online.

A suggestion: bring your own shopping bags, it is always something nice for the vendors.

Also, due to the pandemic, changing room rules may still be strict: please note down your sizes to be sure to shop without regrets!
