Three girls were abandoned in San Antonio without access to basic necessities for days. And this terrible decision apparently rested with none other than their mother!

The woman left the house on June 3 and never came back, as reported by San Antonio Express News.

    What are the details?

Lorraine Sue Garza, 45, was taken into custody Friday and charged with multiple counts of child abandonment for the way she had treated her three adoptive daughters.

The three girls were 11, 13, and 15. They told the San Antonio police officers that their mother went out the door on June 3 and they hadn’t seen her since then. The mother had the only cellphone in the family, so there was no way the girls could reach her.

The water had already been shut off on May 21, about two weeks before their mother took the radical decision to leave them, according to News4SanAntonio.

After they realized the woman wasn’t coming back the three girls turned to a neighbor for assistance. The food in the refrigerator was all spoiled and they needed to shower. The neighbor let the girls have their meals and wash up in her home. She also alerted the San Antonio police.

When the officers arrived to inspect the house, they found trash, insects everywhere, and plenty of dirty clothes on the floor.

Outside it was 98 degrees, but the temperature inside was a lot higher because the A/C wasn’t working.

The oldest daughter told the officials that her sisters slept on the floor in her room because they had a ceiling fan there. The girls also asked the officers to talk outside, since the heat inside was very hard to bear.

Four days after the police visit the mother was found and taken into custody. Her bail was set at $30,000 and she was released on a bond of $3,000.

The Texas Department of Family and Adult Protective Services took the three girls away from the woman’s home.
