NORTH PORT, Fla. – A Rhode Island man was arrested for trying to lure two North Port boys and sharing sexually explicit material with them. The North Port Police Department said they assisted FBI agents, Rhode Island State Police, and the Warwick Police Department in arresting Nicholas Sannicandro. The 31-year-old was arrested for transferring obscene material to a minor and commissioning a specified sexual exploitation offense as a registered sex offender. Sannicandro started talking to two local boys about fishing through Instagram, according to North Port police. He later sent the boys fishing lures through the mail. After that, police said a suspicious parent contacted NPPD. An undercover detective took on the identity of one of the young boys, and the registered sex offender talked about taking a fishing trip together and shared sexually explicit material. North Port police confirmed Sannicandro was convicted in 2011 in Massachusetts for possession of child pornography, and he was required to register as a sex offender. He was also convicted twice in 2018 in Massachusetts for disseminating matter harmful to a minor.
