The trio of cyclists were struck near Powerville Road and Meadowbrook Road in Boonton Township on April 8, authorities said. Each was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ramon Rios, 76, was identified as the suspect following an investigation by the department’s detective bureau, township police said Thursday.

Rios, of Boonton, was charged with three counts each of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury and assault by auto.

He also faces charges for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident, police said.
