‘She would have never gone!’: Trump claims he forced Harris to visit border

.

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday blasted Vice President Kamala Harris’s just-announced trip to the southern border while taking credit for it at the same time.

“After months of ignoring the crisis at the Southern Border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they’ve created — a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies,” Trump wrote. “Harris and Biden were given the strongest Border in American history. And now, it is by far the worst in American history.”

HARRIS TO VISIT SOUTHERN BORDER ON FRIDAY

The 45th president claimed that if he and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott “weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!”

Harris will travel to El Paso, Texas, this coming Friday with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, but her visit was announced roughly one week after Trump announced his Abbott-led tour.

“The Biden Administration inherited from me the strongest, safest, and most secure border in U.S history and in mere weeks they turned it into the single worst border crisis in U.S history. It’s an unmitigated disaster zone,” his statement released on June 15 read. “Our Nation is now one giant sanctuary city where even dangerous criminals are being cut loose and set free inside the U.S interior on a daily basis.”

Abbott had pledged to finish the Texas portion of the Trump administration’s border wall, an uphill challenge considering the $20 million average cost per mile of construction.

Harris’s trip comes weeks after she was criticized by Republicans and some Democrats for a shaky trip to Guatemala and Mexico, during which she flubbed several questions about why she, as President Joe Biden’s appointed lead on the migrant surge, has not visited the border.
