Train car catches fire in Jefferson City
Jefferson City firefighters were still working Tuesday to put out hot spots after a train car caught fire the night before.
The call came in a little before 8 p.m. Monday for a smoking rail car in the railyard on North Chestnut Street that had been reported by Capitol Police, the Jefferson City Fire Department said in a release. A container car owned by Union Pacific was on fire when they arrived, the release says.
The car was separated from the train and emptied. The fire was contained to the one car, the fire department said.
The fire department did not say what was on the car or how the fire started.
