There are a lot of things to do and see in Traverse City. But if you don't have a lot of time, what should you do first?

Grand Traverse Bay: Specifically East Bay by Traverse City State Park

The beach across from the Traverse City State Park campground on the East Bay is very pleasant. There's plenty of picnic tables, and sandy beach spots. A variety of boat rentals are available (SUP and kayaks) and the water is perfect for swimming.

The water in Grand Traverse Bay is so clear - it reminded me of the Caribbean. The early morning hours were a particularly magical time. We enjoyed riding bikes along the shore and sailing on a boat tour. Chris Evans

    Clinch Park

Clinch park is one of the most popular beaches in Traverse City. The beach features over 1500 feet of sand along West Grand Traverse Bay Clinch Park has picnic tables, bike racks, TART Trail access, lifeguards from mid-June through August, a concession stand and restrooms. There is also a splash pad for the kids to enjoy as well as a climbing area, and fountains. Clinch Park is directly adjacent to the Clinch Park Marina. In addition, there are also five busy sand volleyball courts within walking distance.

This area is one of the busiest areas in Traverse City, so it is wise to come early and during the weekdays as opposed to the weekend. Parking here can be a little challenging, but there is a parking lot across the street and some meters are available in the marina parking lot.

We visited Clinch Park twice during our time in the Traverse City area. The park is beautiful with great views of the boats and water. The Splash Pad was excellent; our granddaughter loved her time spent playing in the water. Zeelandscoutmom

    Mission Point Lighthouse

Mission Point Lighthouse is located at the tip of Grand Traverse Bay at the joining of the east bay an the west bay. The lighthouse is found at the north end of a picturesque drive along M-37 through countless cherry orchards and vineyards, Mission Point Lighthouse stands as a classic piece of Michigan history. Mission Point Lighthouse gives visitors a peek into what life was like around the turn of the century for lighthouse keepers and for others who lived and worked in the area at the time. You can learn more about the lighthouse here.

Well worth the visit to the lighthouse when touring Traverse City and the peninsula. Wonderful giftshop and the volunteers who staff the lighthouse are friendly, helpful and informative. Interesting history of the lighthouse. 12 miles of hiking and biking trails. Sandy beach for strolls. Stick around for some amazing sunsets. Bcowdrick
So there you have it. Those are the three must-visit locations in Traverse City. Have you visited each one?
