Airlines asking the Department of Justice to prosecute unruly passengers

Airlines are asking the Justice Department to prosecute unruly passengers.

The requests come amid a reported surge of attacks on flight attendants, airlines say.

In a letter to the Attorney General, a trade group and several unions are asking the FAA to refer the worst instances to the Department of Justice in hopes of deterring further dangerous behavior.

So far this year the FAA says it received about 3,000 reports of unruly passengers, mostly related to refusing to comply with mask mandates.
