An Oregon school has declared itself as “white supremacist” in its newly proposed “Antiracist Vision Statement.”
“Beaverton School District perpetuates institutional racism and embodies a white supremacist culture,” reads the “Equitable Policies Board Report” put forth by the “Equitable Policies Task Force” at the school.
The draft, which the task force members believe will pass in a vote Monday, is part of the school’s “Antiracist Vision Statement.” It promised to “confront” and “eliminate” all forms of “conscious” and “unconscious” racism and “bias” from Beaverton schools while calling for “permanent” funding to help accomplish the vision.

The story comes after a report earlier this year that the district sent out an email to parents touting a districtwide “Black Student Graduation Ceremony.” The ceremony, which was organized by the Beaverton Black Parent Union, said the event was “open to any senior student in-district who identifies as Black (including African-American, Afro-Latino, African or mixed-race Black).”
The Black Student Graduation Ceremony also welcomed “those who may not have credits to participate in [the mainstream] graduation,” though it would not serve as a replacement for the regular graduation ceremony.
The provision inviting students who have yet to obtain the required amount of credits was intended to allow students who planned on taking courses in the summer in order to obtain their diploma a chance to celebrate graduation.
The Black Student Graduation Ceremony was also not intended to replace the mainstream graduation ceremony, and the Beaverton School District was “not affiliated with the event” in any official or fiscal capacity.

Students who attended the ceremony were also not awarded diplomas, which would be received at the regular ceremony.
