Know Anything? Group Of Easton Cyclists Sideswiped, 2 Hospitalized In 'Deliberate' Hit-And-Run

A local cyclist is looking to track down the driver of a vehicle that he says “deliberately” sideswiped his group of riders and sent two victims to the hospital.

The broken mirror is black and off-white with a 2009 build date and a heating element, Kirby said. It also has a light that shines toward the ground when the door is opened.

Alan Kirby was cycling east on Newburg Road in Palmer Township when a vehicle sideswiped his group of about a dozen riders on the Route 33 overpass around 8:50 a.m. Saturday, he wrote in a Facebook post that has been shared almost 900 times.

One of the riders was hit by the vehicle’s mirror and started what Kirby called a “domino effect,” knocking down the adjacent rider and sending both to a local hospital for evaluation of bruises and road rash, he told Daily Voice.

The driver sped away after the crash, and Kirby says he doesn’t think the incident was a mere accident.

“Given the wide roadway, no other traffic, and the fact we were riding well in the shoulder area, I suspect the driver may have sideswiped us deliberately or was purposely ‘buzzing’ us,” his post says.

The driver’s side mirror broke loose during the crash, providing a crucial piece of the puzzle.

The broken mirror is black and off-white with a 2009 build date and a heating element, Kirby said. It also has a light that shines toward the ground when the door is opened, according to his post.

Based on the mirror’s description, Kirby believes the vehicle may be an off-white 2009-2011 vintage Ford Edge/Expedition or Lincoln Navigator/MKZ.

"We are both fortunate but pretty disappointed that the car sped away," one of the victims commented on Kirby's post. "Gutless lowlife is a description that comes to mind."

Meanwhile, several commenters described a similar incident from Friday that resulted in a young cyclist being run off Newburg Road, Kirby says.

The Colonial Regional Police Department shared the details surrounding the incident in a Facebook post Tuesday:
