Michelle Obama shares Father’s Day tribute: ‘Our daughters couldn’t have asked for a better role model’

Former first lady Michelle Obama took to social media on Sunday to wish “all the dads out there” a happy Father’s Day, while also sharing a tribute to her husband.

“Happy #FathersDay to all the dads out there — especially the one and only @BarackObama! Our daughters couldn’t have asked for a better role model. We’re so lucky to have you in our lives,” she wrote in a pair of posts on Instagram and Twitter on Sunday morning.

She shared a photo of former President Obama alongside their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, during his time in the Oval Office over five years ago.

Over the weekend, Michelle Obama also shared a post also honoring her late father, Fraser Robinson III, on Saturday. Robinson, who worked at a water filtration plant in Chicago, died in 1991 at 55 years old.

“It’s almost #FathersDay, so I’m thinking a lot about my dad: his baritone voice, his laugh that filled up the room, the way he always knew how to set the right mood by spinning up the perfect record,” she wrote in the post, which also featured a photo of her and her father.

“My father gave great advice, taught me the value of hard work, encouraged me to ask questions, and always gave me the space to do so,” she continued.

“I always thought he was so cool—just look at this photo!” she added.
