Police said the shootings took place in Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, and along the freeways in the Phoenix metropolitan area, the television station reported.

Bail was set at $1 million for Tricarico, KNXV reported. Police arrested Tricarico on Thursday afternoon and released his name Friday afternoon in a tweet.

“We don’t know the nexus, we don’t know what the motive was, we don’t have an idea of what this person was thinking when he went out and did this,” Peoria police spokesperson Brandon Sheffert said during a news conference. “Obviously we want to figure this out because there’s a lot of scared people and people this affected.”

Four people were shot, one fatally, and nine others suffered various injuries in at least eight separate drive-by shootings, KNXV reported.

Some of the victims were injured from shrapnel from broken glass or were hurt as a result of a car crash, Sheffert said Thursday.

The person who was killed was found shot in a drainage ditch along Loop 101 and Thunderbird Road in Peoria, KTVK reported.
