Police: Man arrested after he attacked an acquaintance and drove away with her child

A 26-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after police say he attacked a woman he knew and drove away with her child near Seattle’s Mt. Baker neighborhood.

At about 7:30 p.m., police learned that a man attacked a woman near 33rd Avenue South and South Byron Street.

Police said he also had driven away with an infant in his car.

The woman escaped but the suspect drove away with her car.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found the woman nearby. She had injuries to her face and told officers she was in a car with a man she knew and that he had assaulted her, investigators said.

An Amber Alert was issued for the child.

Police found the man at his home with the child, who wasn’t hurt. The man was booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and assault.
