DailyMailTV EXCLUSIVE: Savannah Guthrie says she was 'nervous and intimidated' to fill Alex Trebek's shoes on Jeopardy ... and celebrates a decade milestone at NBC

Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie is celebrating her 10-year milestone at NBC.

The veteran news personality also recently took on the gig of a lifetime as a guest host of the iconic quiz show Jeopardy but, even with all her years in the business, Savannah revealed she was 'nervous and intimidated.'

Guthrie sat down for an exclusive chat with her good friend and DailyMailTV host Thomas Roberts to dish on what it was like stepping in for Alex Trebek - and her excitement about covering the Tokyo Olympics next month.

'It's so different, actually, than what we do on The Today Show,' Savannah explained of Jeopardy.

'I was intimidated. I was nervous and it was challenging,' she admitted. 'And there was a part of me when I was starting out thinking, why am I doing this? You know, this is so outside my comfort zone. But in the end, I was really happy that I did it.'

The legendary game show has been rotating guest hosts since the 2020 passing of host Alex Trebek who died of pancreatic cancer. The Canadian icon had served as the host of the Merv Griffin created series since 1984.

'It's so fast. It has to be so precise,' Savannah said. 'And the biggest stress for me was trying to just make sure the game kept rolling. And you keep the integrity of the game.'

Jeopardy GOAT Ken Jennings, executive producer Mike Richards, Katie Couric, Bill Whitaker, Sanjay Gupta, Anderson Cooper, Aaron Rodgers, Dr. Oz and Mayim Bialik are just some of those who've served as guest hosts so far.

Guthrie was certainly up for the challenge of hosting the game show and her performance is already getting rave reviews from fans.

Being in front of the camera is nothing new for the much-lauded newswoman who has spent the last decade at NBC.

Incredible! Savannah is celebrating her 10-year anniversary at NBC
'I feel like it's been the best ten years of my life,' Savannah gushed. 'I've had experiences that I could not have ever fathomed would happen to me, a kid from Tucson, Arizona.'

Next month Guthrie will travel to Japan to cover the Tokyo Olympics for the network, a prospect she's thrilled about.

'I'm really excited. I get to co-host the opening ceremony for the very first time in all my ten years at NBC,' she said. 'I've never done that.' Adding: 'It's the first time since the pandemic that the whole world is getting together.'

'You promised me in a tweet, this was almost a decade ago that we would go bowling,' Roberts joked. 'We've yet to go bowling.'

During her interview with DailyMailTV, Savannah and Thomas, who are old friends and colleagues, found some time to reminisce.

'You promised me in a tweet, this was almost a decade ago that we would go bowling,' Roberts joked. 'We've yet to go bowling.'

'Why haven't you called me? Thomas, I'm ready to bowl, I have my bowling shoes and my bowling bag and my lucky ball,' she laughed. ' I love you. You're one of my favorite people you're the funniest and the best. And you better put this in the story.'

Savannah can be seen weekdays on Today on NBC, she will be guest hosting Jeopardy until June 25th and the Tokyo Olympics begin airing on NBC from July 23 to August 8.
