The name Blu Jam was taken from the location's original history, where it was used as an underground blues and jazz club where patrons would enter through it's secret entrance to listen to musicians jam. Blu Jam is a cozy, comfortable and relaxed place to dine that epitomizes the laid-back L.A. lifestyle. Serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch the menu consists of a wide-range of European-influenced dishes prepared with a California twist and using the highest quality ingredients. The friendly and attentive staff is always on call to serve, whether you are there to feast, sample one of their famous home-made soups, or perhaps you're just stopping by for a glass of freshly squeezed juice or a cup of one of the many organic coffees and teas they have to offer. Blu Jam Cafe is the type of place where everybody knows your name. A great place to people-watch, meet with friends or clients. One trip to Blu Jam and you'll see for yourself why it's a home away from home to many.

This is an amazing breakfast/brunch spot in LA. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation. Their waitlist is very easy and they text you when your table is ready. While you wait, feel free to browse some of the shops on Melrose.

At Blu Jam Café, we have no freezers. Chef Kamil believes in serving only the freshest food with the finest ingredients. You won’t find anything with corn syrup or artificial flavors, because if we can’t pronounce it, we won’t serve it.
I always start with either a french press or a latte here, the coffee is great. If you're feeling like juice, their orange juice is fresh-squeezed.
A few of my personal favorite breakfast items here:
Chilaquiles: Corn tortilla chips, scrambled eggs, braised pulled chicken, black beans, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and sour cream
Morning Hash: Scrambled eggs, black forest ham, spinach, onions, sundried tomatoes, grilled potatoes, mozzarella and toast.
California Omelette: Three egg open-face omelet, crispy smoked bacon, tomato, avocado, sour cream, cheddar cheese, grilled potatoes, and toast.
Blu Jam Benedict: Poached eggs, English muffin, black forest ham, crispy bacon, hollandaise, grilled potatoes.
Florentine Benedict: Poached eggs, English muffin, spinach, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella, hollandaise, and grilled potatoes.
We always come here with a group so everybody orders something different and tries each others dish. It's the best way to get a little bit of everything.
If you're looking for something to curb your sweet tooth, try their Crunch French toast which is their signature dish, it's french brioche dipped in a secret batter, rolled in crunchy corn flakes and grilled to perfection, topped with fresh berries, served with powdered sugar and vanilla bean sauce.
You can also create your own scramble or open-face omelet and it will be served with toast and grilled potatoes.
This is a great breakfast spot, I highly recommend it.
