GSP trooper intentionally crashes into wrong-way driver on downtown Connector to stop him

ATLANTA — Police say a Georgia State Patrol trooper intentionally drove his car into a wrong-way driver on the I-75/85 Connector to stop him early Friday morning.

Police said they requested the help of GSP troopers as they chased a driver going the wrong way on the Connector around 2:45 a.m.

Both the trooper and the driver sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The trooper intercepted the Hyundai Sonata just off of Courtland Street, hitting the car on the passenger side.

The driver was found to be under the influence of drugs and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police identified the driver as Miroslov Klmkiv, 53, from South Carolina. He will be charged with driving the wrong way, reckless driving and driving under the influence.
