If you have been wondering what's up with the Legendary Icon’s Biopic- wonder no more. Deadline is reporting Warner Brothers will be bringing Marvin Gaye’s life story to the screen.

Based off of a script by Marcus Gardley, and a list of producers including music heavy hitters Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, it’s looking like a 2023 release it is.

Marvin Gaye was a singer, songwriter, and record producer who helped shape the sound of Motown in the 1960s, first as an in-house session player and later as a solo artist with a string of hits, earning him the nicknames "Prince of Motown" and "Prince of Soul".

Gaye's Motown hits include "Ain't That Peculiar", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)", and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine". Gaye also recorded duets with Mary Wells, Kim Weston, Tammi Terrell, and Diana Ross. During the 1970s, Gaye recorded the albums What's Going On and Let's Get It On.

The film is slated to encompass his musical journey and how that impacted the world as well as chronicle his personal life, including the tumultuous relationship with his father.

Reportedly Marvin Gaye had had a bitter relationship with his father, Marvin Gay Sr., since his childhood. Marvin Sr. was a Christian minister who was a strict disciplinarian and often physically punished his children. Gaye's father was said to have never approved of his son's career in music, and gradually grew resentful that Gaye was closer to his mother, Alberta, and had become the breadwinner for the family. Despite a brief improvement in their relationship after Gaye found success with his album What's Going On, both father and son never found any lasting peace.

On the afternoon of April 1, 1984, Gaye intervened in a fight between his parents, in the family house in the West Adams district of Los Angeles, and he became involved in a physical altercation with his father, Marvin Gay Sr. who shot Gaye twice, once in the chest, piercing his heart, and then into Gaye's shoulder. Gaye was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m. one day short of his 45th birthday.
