What to Eat When You Visit Los Angeles Part 3

    2021-06-17

The restaurant scene here in Los Angeles is both robust and competitive. With the huge population and the constant revolving door of hungry tourists, this city has a lot of mouths to feed. I have already shared a few of my favorites, but it would be too tough to stop right there. Instead, I have decided to include all of the top spots so that you may be forced to make a few trips just to fit them all in. If you like to experience the local cuisine when you travel, then read on to learn what to eat when you visit Los Angeles.

    Republique

Located on La Brea, Republique does it all. They serve up breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as brunch. They even have a decadent dessert menu that features their amazing cakes, pies, and pastries. For dessert, my personal favorite is their strawberry cream roll cake with a Vietnamese latte to wash it down. If you are looking for something a tad more unique, join them for dinner and order the liberty farms duck. It is served with dried peaches and a sweet blackberry peppercorn sauce. But if you're feeling a bit fancy, I would order something off their brunch menu. Their brunch dishes definitely make you feel classy with all the delicious options they have to offer. I would pair it with mimosas when I come for brunch. They also have a great wine list, so ask your server to recommend a pairing.

What I recommend: Eggs Benedicts are great here but I also love their amazing cakes

I'm beginning to realize one of my favorite cuisines when visiting Los Angeles is korean food because there's so many different restaurants and all of them surprise me with unique sauces or meats. I may be known to frequently tell people to come hungry and save room, but when it comes to all you can eat grilled meats, I really mean it. Located on Sixth Street, this spot is affordably priced considering the meats are nonstop. Try their brisket or prime rib if you happen to be a beef lover. Those who are fans of pork must treat themselves to the pork belly. And, of course, no Korean BBQ would be complete without all the wonderful sides that come along with it. If you have never tried kimchi, it is a must for an authentic Korean experience but eat it with some rice because it's definitely sour. It's an acquired taste and once you've acquired it, you won't be able to stop.

What I recommend: Prime rib and korean style ribs are the best here

    The Penthouse at Mastro's

It may not be the type of place you visit every day, but if you have a special occasion coming up in the LA area, you will want to celebrate it at The Penthouse at Mastro’s. It is meant for those fancy occasions and even has a strict, fancy dress code to match. Put on your Sunday best and try their amazing bigeye tuna tartare appetizer. For dinner, I recommend their bone-in filet. For those interested in an indulgent splurge, try the snake river farms wagyu tomahawk. I promise that it, and you, are worth it. If you are looking for a savory side, I suggest their gorgonzola man and cheese.

    What I recommend: Bone-in filet

Though it was no easy task, I believe I did justice to the attempt at providing the best spots to dine when you visit Los Angeles. The city has a restaurant for everyone at every price point. Whether you are looking for endless meats, fancy cakes, or a world class cut of beef, you will sure find them all here in LA.
