NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Pittsburgh FBI office is still looking for a few people related to a large indictment for drug trafficking in Mercer and Lawrence counties.
Federal and state agencies including the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Pennsylvania State Police announced 25 people in Lawrence and Mercer counties were indicted for drug trafficking.
“The list of people that were indicted is a who’s who of significant drug dealers in Mercer County. Some of them we’ve already arrested and prosecuted,” explained Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker.
“These defendants have all been charged with crimes that carry a mandatory five-year prison sentence in federal court if convicted. That shows there were certainly some significant quantities,” Kaufmann explained.
Acting U.S. Attorney Steve Kaufmann says they were able to use several techniques, including wiretaps, to convince a grand jury to hand down the indictments.
Eighteen suspects were arrested on Thursday morning, and three others were already behind bars. Prosecutors say the suspects are all family members or close friends.
Agents said they were able to track down and arrest Jimmy Gadson and Michael Love. Forrest Gilmore and Jermall Johnson were still on the run late Thursday.
They’re indicted for selling multiple drugs including heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamines, cocaine and crack.
