Barrow Co: no mask requirement for new school year

No virtual option in most schools in Elbert Co

School officials in Winder say masks will be recommended but not required when the new Barrow County school year begins on August 3.

The Elbert County School District becomes the latest in a growing list of school systems in northeast Georgia to say that classes for the new school year will be in-person only, at least for grades K through 8. The virtual option that was available because of the coronavirus pandemic will not be available for the academic year that begins in August in Elbert County. Elbert County’s school superintendent says the Elbert Virtual Academy will be an option for the County’s high school students. Elbert County’s new school year begins August 4.
