1 taken to hospital, residence deemed total loss after fire in Drexel

DREXEL — Multiple fire crews from Montgomery County worked to extinguish a residential fire that led to one occupant being transported to an area hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Crews responded a residence on Paige Avenue in Drexel around 4:45 p.m. where a large amount fire showing from the residence.

Jefferson Twp. Fire Chief Doug Wright told News Center 7 that there was one occupant in the residence when the fire started.

That occupant was transported to an area hospital with probable smoke inhalation, according to Wright.

The residence sustained significant damage and was deemed a total loss.

A detached garage also caught on fire. Wright said crews were able to extinguish that fire quickly.

Jefferson Twp. received mutual aid from Moraine, New Lebanon, Trotwood and Dayton.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
