Saugus man dies in Newburyport crash Tuesday

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. — A 48-year-old man from Saugus died following a three-car crash on I-95 North Tuesday, Mass. State Police announced.

That man was driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra when he rear-ended a 2020 Ford Transit van being driven by a 28-year-old Beverly man. That crash caused the Hyundai to travel into the southbound lane of I-95, where it collided with a 2019 Ford F-150 being driven by a 61-year-old Maine man.

That Saugus man was transported to a nearby hospital following the crash and later died from his injuries. Police say the Maine man was hospitalized with minor injuries while the Beverly man was uninjured.

The crash happened about one mile before Exit 86 in Newburyport Tuesday. State Police are investigating.
