    Portsmouth, Ohio

A man approached an off-duty Southen Ohio Corrections Officer at the BP on Gallia Street in Portsmouth, Ohio. He told the CO that he was in possession of meth and wanted to be arrested.

He then showed the drugs to the officers.

The CO contacted Portsmouth Ohio Police Department and said the man was calmly smoking a cigarette.

An officer went to the scene and detained the man until someone from the counseling center responded.

Police released the man into the custody of a counselor. Officers impounded the drugs.

This is not the first time people have offered drugs to police in this Southern Ohio town.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at York Park in Portsmouth. Police discovered women sitting in the vehicle and detected a strong smell of marijuana.

The women admitted they were smoking weed and one suspect handed over a baggie of pot to an officer and said, “You can have it.”

The ladies allowed police to search the vehicle. Officers discovered two additional baggies of marijuana. Police impounded the drugs and advised the women about misdemeanor charges. They allowed the women to contact a sober friend to drive them home
