LAKEWOOD – Multiple police officers surrounded Lakewood High School early this morning after the school went into lockdown due to an unauthorized person entering the building.

Captain Gregory Staffordsmith of the Lakewood Police Department told Jersey Shore Online that the intruder was a juvenile who came to the school to fight another party and possibly possessed a weapon.

The school remained in lockdown while the building was searched with help from the Ocean County K9 Units. Police were able to locate and arrest the juvenile and the lockdown was lifted after the search was conducted. No weapons were found, Staffordsmith said.

The juvenile and a juvenile accomplice were both arrested and charged by school resource officers. Later, they were released to family pending a future court appearance.
