“In this effort, we are governed by a humbling belief that it would be better if disproportionate wealth were not concentrated in a small number of hands, and that the solutions are best designed and implemented by others,” she wrote.

The recent donation is the third round of philanthropic gifts Scott has given in less than a year. Scott donated $1.7 billion to historically Black colleges and universities in July, along with other groups. In December, she announced she gave away an additional $4.2 billion to hundreds of organizations.

Scott is worth nearly $60 billion, according to Forbes. Scott and Bezos divorced in mid-2019 after being married for 25 years, leaving Scott with a 4-percent stake in Amazon.
