'Highly Intoxicated' Woman Arrested After 2-Year-Old Boy Found Walking Around Duquesne Alone In Only Underwear

DUQUESNE, Pa. (KDKA) - Police say a "highly intoxicated" woman was arrested after a 2-year-old boy was found walking in Duquesne dressed only in underwear.

Duquesne Police say the toddler was walking along Harden Avenue and wasn't even wearing shoes. They put out a call for help on Facebook Tuesday, asking anyone who knew the child or his parents to call 911.

About an hour later, police say they arrested a "highly intoxicated" person who was supposed to be watching the boy.

Police say it all started when a Good Samaritan saw the boy walking alone and immediately called police.

About two hours later, police received information about a woman who was supposed to have been watching the child. They went to her apartment in the 1100 block of Oberlin Avenue, which is several blocks away from where the boy was found.

"Made contact with her and discovered she was highly intoxicated. After being Mirandized, she made statements that she was to be watching the child all day," said Duquesne Police Chief Thomas Dunlevy.

WATCH: The Boy Is Reunited With His Family

Dunlevy says she told officers that she believes the boy left when she passed out.

KDKA was told the woman is a relative. She's been charged with child endangerment.

Police say they were able to identify the family, and they were reunited with their child just after 5 p.m. The boy got to see his aunt, the two sharing hugs and sighs of relief. The child's father also came to the station, bringing bubbles to play with his son.

The father is very shaken up, but is relieved and is not facing charges. The little boy is with a social worker from CYF until the next steps can be taken and he can go home.
