Standoff with rape suspect at Everett Motel 6 ends in arrest

EVERETT, Wash. — Snohomish County deputies were at at Motel 6 in Everett Tuesday where a suspect barricaded himself inside a unit.

The sheriff’s office first tweeted about the standoff at 8:42 a.m.

The building was evacuated and a large number of officers, including SWAT and a K-9 team responded.

Officers negotiated with the suspect at the motel on 128th Street Southwest to get him to come out.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect was wanted for first-degree rape and the victim has been taken to the hospital.

A witness told KIRO 7 the suspect burst out of the room and tried to run away, but was stopped by a K-9 and taken into custody shortly before 11 a.m.
