Kyle Sandilands blasts reporter who shared story about Geoffrey Edelsten bribing wedding guests on the day of his death - and slams ex-wife Brynne for claiming she never slept with him

Kyle Sandilands has criticised an entertainment reporter for sharing an unflattering story about Geoffrey Edelsten just hours after his death on Friday afternoon.

Responding to news of Edelsten's passing, Peter Ford tweeted at 6:17pm: 'One thing that can't be denied - he wasn't boring! When I declined an invite to his wedding to Brynne he offered me $10,000 to change my mind.'

Discussing Ford's claim on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday, Kyle's co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson admitted she felt sorry for Edelsten.

'Don't you find that sad that he has to pay people [to go to his wedding]?' she said.

Kyle snapped: 'I find it sad that on the day of his death, Peter Ford decided to tell everyone that.'

'I get that's what he does for a living, and I'm not rubbishing him, that's his job, but on the day of his death, to tell everyone that...' he added disapprovingly.

Geoffrey and Brynne married at a $3.3million wedding at Crown Casino's Palladium room in 2009.

On Monday, Ford doubled down on his claim he was offered big coin to attend the splashy nuptials.

Ford claimed he agreed to attend the wedding after Edelsten bumped the offer up to $15,000 and donated it to charity.

Disapproval: 'I find it sad that on the day of his death, Peter Ford decided to tell everyone that,' Kyle said on Tuesday

However, he said another well-known media personality did much better out of the deal after being paid $50,000 to attend.

Ford has long been an outspoken critic of Edelsten, having branded the businessman and his third ex-wife Gabi Grecko 'pathetic, sick and disrespectful' for announcing a fake miscarriage to garner publicity in 2015.

'How disrespectful to people who have really suffered loss in their life,' he said on 3AW radio at the time.

Also on Tuesday, Kyle took a swipe at Geoffrey's ex-wife Brynne for claiming they'd never consummated their five-year marriage.

'No one's going to go to the funeral. All the exes sent little notes, and then they let everyone know, "Oh, we didn't root him either,"' he said.

'Well, what are you doing married to him then, [if] you weren't banging the old bloke?' he scoffed.

Brynne made the claims in 2016, but they were only brought to light this week following her ex-husband's death.

In the previously unpublished interview with The Herald Sun, Brynne stated: 'We never had a sexual relationship at all.'

Geoffrey died on Friday afternoon at Balencea Apartments on St Kilda Road.

The former owner of the Sydney Swans football club lived the final months of his life as a recluse, according to friends.

He had been found guilty in 1990 of soliciting former hit man Christopher Flannery to assault a former patient, and was jailed for a year.

Apart from the conviction, Edelsten faced other consequences, including being struck off as a doctor.

It was a fall from grace for a man who pioneered flashy 24-hour medical clinics in the 1980s, which came with grand pianos.
