Don’t Let High Tuition Be a Reason For Not Going to College: WOCTEP Programs Helping Students Out

College is expensive no matter what state you live in, and whatever school you go to.

Waganakising Odawa Career and Technical Education Program (WOCTEP) is helping students out by offering tuition assistance for students attending and .

operates within the Education Department of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, and it offers certificate and associate programs to these two colleges.

To help college students out, WOCTEP will provide tuition assistance, funding for textbooks and materials, mileage assistance to get to school,  hourly stipend, cover certification exam fees, and medical training uniforms for medical programs.

The Program accepts all special populations, but does target the Native American population in particular because it is a Native American Career and Technical Education Program grant.

The WOCTEP Programs through North Central Michigan College include Computer Information Systems, CNC Machinist, Computer Support Specialist, Criminal Justice, EMS/Basic, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, and Phlebotomy.

WOCTEP Programs through Bay Mills Community College includes Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Construction Technology, Early Childhood Development, Medical Office Certificate, and BMCC Office Administration.

These certificate and associate programs will increase students’ skills for employment and at only 16-71 credits, they will provide students a successful career.
