A Kentucky man was arrested and charged with assualting and an officer — among other charges — after leading multiple poloice officers on a chase early Saturday morning.

On Saturday June 12, at 2:30 a.m. Danville Police responded to a Streamland subdivision regarding a suspicious vehicle report. Officers were given the vehicle description and began canvassing the area. Officers Ryan White and Dakota Rakes located the vehicle near Middlebrook Drive where it stopped in the middle of the roadway.

Officers exited their patrol vehicles and started speaking with the operator. Officers noticed several signs of impairment and that the subject had something concealed in his hand. Officers instructed the individual to put his vehicle in park and place his hands on the steering wheel.

The driver, later identified as Colby A. Jackson, 32, of Louisville, refused and attempted to conceal needles and suspected narcotics under his seat. Officers opened the door, but Jackson would not get out of the vehicle. Officers attempted to remove Jackson from the car and place the vehicle in park. Jackson became combative with both officers and fled the scene while Officer Ryan White was partially in the vehicle attempting to place the gear shift in the park position.

As Jackson fled Officer White was temporarily dragged by the vehicle before falling to the pavement. Officer White was able to get up and get back to his patrol vehicle where he and Officer Rakes initiated a pursuit of Jackson. Officers were joined by additional Danville Police units along with Boyle County Sheriffs Deputies.

Jackson exited Streamland subdivision and traveled north on Shakertown Road before traveling east on KY 2168. At the intersection of KY 2168 and Lexington Road Boyle County Sheriff Deputy Jacob Ruhe attempted to deploy a tire deflation device but Jackson avoided the device, swerving and almost striking Deputy Ruhe. Jackson continued onto Lexington Court where his vehicle came to a stop in a driveway. Jackson then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident. Due to his level of impairment Jackson was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for precautionary reasons.

Jackson was treated and released then lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center on the following charges:

• Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence

• Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree Police Officer ( six counts)

• Assault 2nd Degree (Police Officer)

• Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)

• Fleeing Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot)

• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest.
