Transformer fires cause outages and road closures in Allegheny County

COLLIER, Pa. — The 1500 block of Washington Pike has been shut down due to multiple transformers catching fire and causing power lines to fall.

The roads in the area between Raceway Plaza in Scott Township and Collier Town Square are being shut down until emergency crews can contain the incident.

At this time there is no word on what caused the transformers to catch fire, or how long power will be out.

According to the Duquesne Light Power Company, approximately 16 customers are without power in the area.
