Police on Friday said they arrested a man who authorities believe struck a 7-month baby—who was riding in a stroller— before driving off and fleeing the scene.

The baby boy and his mother, who was not injured, were just about to cross the street around 11:30 a.m. Thursday near Long Beach Boulevard and 67th Street in Long Beach when they were struck by a car. Police later released video of a white vehicle they believe fled the scene following the collision.

On Friday evening, Long Beach police announced that Burnett Livingston, 62, of Compton, had been arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. He was booked in Long Beach Jail, with bail set at $0.

Police said the suspected car involved was recovered in an area just north of the Carmelitos area.

The boy is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to correct Livingston’s bail amount. Police originally said it was $50,000.
