Recently Time Out surveyed almost 30,000 people from around the world to ask them what the coolest street in the world was. The Time Out Index food and fun, culture and community. These all come together to make a great neighborhood and a fabulous city.

In a year where people were unable to travel, Time Out wanted people to explore their local area.

"In a year when travel dreams were dashed and we had to stay closer to home, they helped us feel like we were a part of something bigger as well." Time Out Magazine

While Smith Street in Melbourne, Australia came in at one, one street in California beat all others in the United States. It placed at number 5 on the coolest streets in the world.

Not only the coolest street in the United States but also one of the most famous, Sunset Boulevard, stretches for 22 miles. It starts at the coast on the Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades and runs east through to Downtown Lose Angeles. Along the route, it passes through iconic neighborhoods such as West Hollywood and Beverley Hills.

Sunset Boulevard perhaps reaches its coolest at the 1.5-mile section known as Sunset Strip on the border of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. The Sunset Strip is full of restaurants and nightclubs and its extensive array of colorful billboards along the side of the road.

Not many streets can boast that sort of fame.

"Stretching from the bustle of downtown to glamorous Malibu, Sunset Boulevard stands out as the ultimate road to fame or fortune. Or at least that’s the dream. From scruffy clubs and neon to historic movie studios and beaches, this iconic street captures the very essence of L.A.—a clash of extremes all spread out beneath the California sun.
