Eddie Jones turned to England's next generation in picking his first summer Test squad with no less than 21 uncapped players with senior men George Ford, Ben Youngs and Jonny May rested.

As Sportsmail predicted, the head coach has picked a host of new, fresh names including Bath flanker Miles Reid, 22, Newcastle wing Adam Radwan, 23, and 20-year-olds Max Ojomoh from Bath and London Irish lock Chunya Munga.

The only established names left are Ellis Genge – the most-capped player in the 34-man group with 28 internationals played – captaincy favourite Sam Underhill, his Bath team-mate Charlie Ewels and Wasps scrum-half Dan Robson.

Jones said: 'This is the first squad of three and we'll include players from the other clubs where appropriate, when they become available. We've also given some of our senior players the chance to get some important rest and recovery time after back-to-back seasons, and with no proper pre-season.

'For this group it's a chance to come into the England environment and really show what they can do. We expect them to be enthusiastic, full of energy and we want them to know there is no limit to their horizon.

'There is a lot of talent in this squad but the challenge for them is to turn talent into performance. We're really looking forward to working with this group of young players and see where we can take them. They have the opportunity to take on the world.'

Newcastle's Adam Radwan will have a chance to impress
Miles Reid has also been selected among the inexperienced group
Former Ireland Under-20 star Dan Kelly is another uncapped player to be called up

There is an expected recall for big winger Joe Cokanasiga, the Bath man who has not played for England since the 2019 World Cup due to injuries, and other Bath players are included too with scrum-half Ben Spencer, who last appeared off the bench for his country in the World Cup final defeat to South Africa, Beno Obano and Tom de Glanville in.

Leaning heavily on his strong relationship with former England coach Steve Borthwick, now the Leicester coach, Jones has selected Freddie Steward, Dan Kelly, Harry Wells, George Martin and Joe Heyes from the Tigers along with Genge.

Jones urged his young squad to turn talent into performance ahead of Tests v USA and Canada

From London Irish Munga is joined by back-three stars Ollie Hassell-Collins and Tom Parton as Josh Bassett, Jacob Umaga and Tom Willis from Wasps are rewarded for fine Premiership form. Gloucester flanker Lewis Ludlow makes it, as does Worcester captain Ted Hill.

Northampton have Paul Hill, Fraser Dingwall, Lewis Ludlam and Alex Mitchell in, who have all been picked before.

Jones will add players from Bristol, Harlequins, Exeter and Sale once they have finished their seasons in the Premiership – the rest will join up this Sunday ahead of England 'A' versus Scotland 'A' on Sunday June 27 in Leicester.

Tests against the USA and Canada follow at Twickenham in July.
