An 18-year-old woman who was wounded last week in a shooting in the Rose Park neighborhood died from her injuries over the weekend, the Long Beach Police Department announced Monday.

Crystal Gonzalez of Long Beach was critically wounded after being shot in the upper body at 11:33 p.m. Wednesday near 10th Street and Cherry Avenue, authorities said.

Gonzalez died from her injuries on Saturday, police said.

The day after the shooting, on Thursday, June 3, police arrested Luis Oros, 22, of Long Beach, on suspicion of attempted murder, police said. Oros remains in custody at Long Beach Jail on $1 million bail.

Police said Monday they believe Oros and Gonzalez were living together, and police “discovered evidence Oros discharged a firearm at Gonzalez during an argument, which resulted in the fatal injury.”

A spokesperson with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said Oros has been charged with one count of murder. A hearing is scheduled for Friday, June 25 at the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse.
