Colorado Springs Officer who was shot has been discharged from hospital
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Officer who was shot Friday has been discharged from the hospital.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the officer was discharged Monday and is recovering from home.
CSPD has yet to release the name of the officer involved.
On Friday, police say an officer was making a routine traffic stop of two suspicious motorcyclists. While attempting to make contact, one of the riders pulled out a firearm and shot at the officer, hitting him at least once.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Jacob Aaron Sedillo, who lives in Colorado Springs.
After shooting the officer, Sedillo left the scene and has yet to be caught. Before the shooting, Sedillo had a warrant for his arrest stemming from a March aggravated motor vehicle theft charge. In 2020 he pled guilty to a motor vehicle theft and pled guilty to a drug-related charge in 2018.
Sedillo is now being charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.
Sedillo is described as a white male, hispanic origin, 5'11, weighing 165 pounds, with brown hair, and green eyes.
However, CSPD says as the investigation continues, they will not release the make and model of Sedillo's motorcycle. In an email to KRDO, CSPD said this decision was to "preserve evidence and not risk influencing any potential witnesses."
