Did you know that extended, unprotected sun exposure can cause cataracts? That is why it is important to protect those baby blues (and browns) from the sun. According to the National Eye Institute, a division of the National Institute of Health, UV rays can cause cataracts and other eye conditions. How can we prevent this? Wear your sunglasses and make sure that they protect against UV and UVB rays. Don’t ever look directly at the sun and be mindful of how much time you spend in the sunshine. It’s easy to forget about our eyes with the focus on skin damage from sun exposure but our eyes are equally at risk and in need of protection too.
