Be Prepared to Get Wet
This area is known as the Water Park Capital of the World and for good reason! There are water parks everywhere and there is lots of wet and wild fun to be had. Whether you stay at one of the Wisconsin Dells resorts with their own water park or another hotel that offers you passes to a park in the area, there is lots of water fun to be had for all ages.

Whether you love the lazy river, the wave pool or the thrill of the fast and furious water slides, there is fun both indoors and out, so that you can have fun no matter what the season. The week of our visit was fairly cool and while we weren’t able to swim outdoors due to cooler temps, we still had a blast at the indoor parks where we swam and played for hours. When you’re packing for your trip,

The water fun in the Wisconsin Dells isn’t limited to water parks either! There are also other fun ways to explore the area with boat tours, fishing and more.

Different Things Are Available for Different Families
Water parks not your thing? That’s OK, there’s lots of other fun things to do in this area. From outdoor adventures, golfing, go carts, zip lining and more, there is something for everyone. You’ll also find lots of fun and delicious dining options to suite everyone’s tastes from fine dining to fast food.

Plan Ahead
Like many areas, reservations are required for some of the attractions in the Wisconsin Dells. We found that the water parks could be visited at anytime, but activities where there are a limited number of participants such as zip lining and boat tours require a reserved time slot. You can either make these in advance online or by stopping by and making a reservation for a later time in person.

Be sure to be timely when checking in for your reservation. These busy attractions have a schedule to keep! We witnessed a family that showed up over 30 minutes late for their tour to find that the group had left without them and they had missed out on a fun experience.

Lots of Fun Photo Opps
Not only are there lots of fun photo worthy locations to take photos in the Wisconsin Dells, many attractions also take fun family photos that are available for purchase for a small fee. Make sure your phone is fully charged for lots of great memory shots and consider purchasing the professional photos for a fun family souvenir.

We loved all the fun and funky museums and offbeat attractions including the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, Tommy Bartlett Exploratory Interactive Science Center and the Top Secret A Highly Classified Experience. Watch for our post on these coming soon!

Look for Wisconsin Dells Coupons
Want to save money on your upcoming vacation? Keep an eye out when you arrive in the area for brochures and discount coupons for area attractions. We found these nearly everywhere including hotel lobbies, gas stations and restaurants with money saving coupons and interesting info on fun places to visit. There are handy kiosks throughout town that offer savings and can help with making reservations. Many hotels offer package deals, and you can also find more information on Wisconsin Dells coupons and deals here

When booking your hotel, look for additional perks with your stay like water park access, discounts on attraction and more. While we did not stay at a hotel with a water park attached, we received free wristbands to a park where we had hours of fun and adventure. This definitely added a lot of value to our stay and was a deciding factor for which hotel we chose.

COVID-19 Precautions

With lots of indoor and outdoor attractions, the Wisconsin Dells has lots to do no matter what your comfort level is around others or in regards to social distancing. Masks are not required for those who are vaccinated, and this is done on the honor system. We saw families with and without masks during our stay. Our family (who is vaccinated) took ours off while outdoors and away from others, but did wear them indoors where there were closer crowds.

The Wisconsin Dells Convention and Visitors Bureau advises calling ahead about precautions taken by individual attractions and local requirements for locations you'd like to visit. Advance reservations are also recommended as some attractions may have limited attendance for tours or adventures.

No matter what your family loves to do, the Wisconsin Dells has a lot to offer. We will be sharing more about our favorite family attractions in the area soon and be sure to check out our other fun family travel locations here
