Love, Victor is a spinoff the 2018 film Love, Simon. The Hulu series follows Victor Salazar (Cimino), a teenager from a Puerto Rican and Columbian-American family who comes out as gay.

On GMA, Cimino said the new season will explore how Victor's coming out affects his relationship with his family.

"Well, this season's definitely more about Victor discovering what being gay means to him and what it means to the rest of the world," he said. "So now, it's kind of talking about the dynamic that he has between both of his parents."

Cimino said Victor "has one parent that is really accepting and one parent that is struggling with the fact that they love their religion but they also love their child."

Cimino said he hopes Love, Victor helps real-life families navigate similar conversations.

"I think the show is just really relatable and kind of just, it's really easy to digest. So anybody could kind of watch this and get a different point of view from it, whether you're a parent or a child," the star said.

"I think that that's important, especially for a kid that kind of watches the show with their parents. Parents will possibly just be like, 'Okay, I understand the POV from my child,' and the children will understand the POV from their parents," he added.

In addition, Cimino confirmed he will perform his music during the season.

"Yes, I actually get to sing this season. Maybe in Episode 9 or something, who knows. I don't know," he said with a smile.

He performed a snippet of his new song "Love Addict" on GMA.

Love, Victor Season 2 premieres June 11 on Hulu. The series co-stars Rachel Hilson, Anthony Turpel, Bebe Wood, Mason Gooding, James Martinez and Ana Ortiz.
