City to Host Coral Springs Drive Clean-Up Day, June 26, 2021
Coral Springs, FL – On Saturday, June 26, 2021, the City of Coral Springs Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments will host a clean-up along Coral Springs Drive between Atlantic Boulevard and Riverside Drive from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The event will assist homeowners with the maintenance of the areca palm hedges, while engaging the community and bringing together neighbors with the goal to beautify Coral Springs by improving the appearance of the corridor.
Regarding the event, Commissioner Joy Carter said, “In effort to keep our city beautiful, we rely on our residents just as much as we do on our city staff. Hosting clean-up days with volunteer opportunities are instrumental in ensuring our streets, sidewalks, and open areas are always kept beautiful for our residents and visitors.”
The city is seeking volunteers, including high school students, to participate in picking up dead vegetation, trash, and debris from the base of the areca palms and placing them in larger piles. Furthermore, homeowners are encouraged to bring their yard debris to the swales for the city to pick up and dispose of for free.
To volunteer, participants must register through the city website by completing the volunteer application and waiver form in advance. Volunteers will meet at the northeast corner of Riverside Dr. and Coral Springs Dr.
The city code states that it is the property owner’s responsibility to keep their property and the adjoining portions of the right-of-way clear of dead vegetation, trash, and debris. Once the clean-up is complete, property owners that do not maintain this area, may be cited by the Code Compliance Division and be subject to a fine.
