(SAN FRANCISCO) Police in San Francisco identified the suspect arrested last week in connection to an attempted armed burglary followed by an hours-long standoff in the city's Mission District neighborhood.

On May 24, the suspect, 32-year-old Andrew Zamora, allegedly attempted a "hot prowl burglary" — an attempt to burglarize a home while someone is home — on Eagle Street at approximately 4:37 p.m.

The 62-year-old homeowner heard a noise coming from the front of his home and found the Zamora on his front porch. He was armed with a large blade and threatened to kill the homeowner, who managed to distract the suspect and return safely inside his home unharmed.

Afterward, Zamora fled on foot and responding officers soon found him on the roof of a nearby home on the 100 block of Yukon Street. He refused to surrender and the San Francisco Police Department's hostage and crisis negotiations team arrived on the scene.

Zamora surrendered peacefully after several hours of negotiations. He was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on charges of first-degree residential burglary, criminal threats and resisting arrest.

He is being held on $100,000 bail and will appear in court on June 7, according to KPIX 5.
