I'm all for eating healthy, and Sweetgreen helps me do just that. There's nothing better than a good and wholesome salad because let's be honest, it just doesn't taste all that great when you do it yourself. However, when you walk into an establishment and can specifically choose what goes into your salad, well, need I say more? It just doesn't get better.
We started sweetgreen as three college students who were simply looking for a healthier way to eat. When we were in school, there were two choices: food that was slow, expensive, and fresh—or fast, cheap, and unhealthy. We saw an opportunity to create a business where quality was never sacrificed for convenience. On August 1st 2007, two months after graduating, we opened sweetgreen in Washington DC, and served our first customers with a vision to reimagine fast food. - Sweetgreen owners
Sweetgreen offers both salads and warm bowls, my personal favorite warm bowl is the Harvest Bowl made with roasted chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, apples, goat cheese, roasted almonds, warm wild rice, shredded kale, balsamic vinaigrette.
I've replicated this dish multiple times at home and it always comes out delicious but still not as good as the real deal. The apples give it such a nice and crunchy flavor and I like to substitute regular potatoes for sweet ones when I'm home but either way, it's phenomenal.
Sweetgreen recently came out with a new addition to their menu, The Rustic Tomato Harvest Bowl which I have yet to try but it sounds unbelievable. It comes with blackened chicken, roasted tomatoes, basil, goat cheese, roasted almonds, warm wild rice, shredded kale, and balsamic vinaigrette. I'll most likely be making my way to Sweetgreen today for this.
If you're more of a seafood person, they've got great options for you too, specifically their fish taco bowl made with roasted steelhead, avocado, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, warm quinoa, arugula, sweetgreen hot sauce, and lime-cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette.
When it comes to salads, the guacamole greens is my favorite. It has roasted chicken, avocado, tomatoes, red onions, shredded cabbage, tortilla chips, spring mix, chopped romaine, lime squeeze, and lime-cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette. You can of course, add anything else you'd like and I always add additional vegetables to make it more hearty than it already is.
The Super Green Goddess is delicious too, it has black lentils, chickpeas, roasted sweet potatoes, raw carrots, spicy broccoli, shredded cabbage, raw beets, roasted almonds, baby spinach, shredded kale, and green goddess ranch.
They also have great sides such as their rosemary focaccia, and cashew pesto sweet potatoes. Don't forget to add a nice beverage to your meal like their hibiscus clover tea and enjoy.
