Tomorrow is the day, the dead period is finally being lifted and recruits are able to visit schools and meet with the coaching staffs, a stark contrast from what has taken place the past year plus. It’s not just the 2022 class that will get back to some normality for the final stages of their recruitment, it’s also the current rising-junior class that will be impacted by the dead period’s ending.

For Indiana’s 2023 linebacker Drayk Bowen, getting to meet coaching staffs in person will go a long way into his decision of what’s next in his football journey. Fortunately for the Notre Dame coaching staff, they’ll have the first visit from the instate star.

Bowen will be accompanied by his father and visit South Bend tomorrow per a report from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong. Bowen will have a busy few summer weeks ahead of him as the Irish aren’t the only school he plans to visit. He is trying to finalize trips to see Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Clemson, South Carolina and Vanderbilt in the next two weeks.

Looking further out, Bowen has already scheduled a trip to Alabama at the end of June. He’s going to have a whole lot of information about each school throw at him, but there really is no rush for Bowen to make a decision.

The key here is that the Irish are squarely in the race for the states best player in his class, Bowen being a priority for Brian Kelly and his staff. Keeping the best instate players is always a key to recruiting success, the Irish doing that in last year’s cycle by locking up offensive tackle Blake Fisher.

It won’t be back-to-back cycles with Indiana’s best heading to South Bend, as the top 2 prospects have decided to go elsewhere. Bowen is seen as a better prospect than any of the 2022 prospects, so getting a signature from him would be much more important.

It’s obviously early in Bowen’s recruitment, but the Irish are players and have the opportunity to make a very good first impression with the linebacker.
