“Red Bulls have a particular way to play that has been very constant for the years and Gerhard [Struber] have continued with the same structure,” said Orlando City Head Coach Oscar Pareja.

“We know that, but at the same time it’s a team that has intensity and they have this initiative to play forward consistently, where they want to go and when they want to go. Sometimes they may be fragile from that intention to play forward, but they do a good job, they have a good team, we always respect the coach’s different initiatives and we try to neutralize it.”

The Lions will look to extend their unbeaten run to seven-consecutive results after defeating Toronto FC by a score of 1-0 at Exploria Stadium this past Saturday. The Red Bulls come into the weekend looking to bounce back from a 3-1 loss at New England Revolution last Saturday.

Gallese sits tied for the league-lead in clean sheets with Nashville SC goalkeeper Joe Willis, each with four shutouts to start the year. Nani leads the Lions with three goals this season, but will miss Saturday’s match, set to serve the second of a two-game suspension this weekend.

Following Saturday’s match in New Jersey, the Lions will have a three-week break from match play, set to return to the pitch on Saturday, June 19th against Toronto FC before hosting its first full-capacity crowd against the San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday, June 22nd at Exploria Stadium in Orlando.

Orlando City SC joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the league's 21st franchise in November 2013, becoming the first MLS team in the Southeast. The Lions began league play in March 2015, and in 2017, moved into its privately-owned downtown soccer stadium. In 2019, Orlando City SC re-launched OCB to bridge the gap between its successful youth development academy and the First Team.

    Sustainability Efforts

Orlando City SC, Orlando Pride, and Exploria Stadium have announced new sustainability initiatives that will reduce the Club’s influence on climate change, while also maximizing impact in the local community through a Zero Waste program.

The announcement comes following the release of Major League Soccer’s PRIMEBLUE jerseys, high-performance yarn made with 50% Parley Ocean Plastic, which will be worn by the Lions on May 29th, as well as the Orlando Pride’s Mission Program, which will include the unveiling of the Mission Planet Earth patch on May 30th.

Fans attending matches will be able to turn to the newly created “Green Team”, who will be located throughout the venue at all matches. Green Team ambassadors will assist in educating guests on recyclable materials and proper disposal locations for paper and cardboard, as well as recycling bins for plastic and aluminum products.

With the introduction of Exploria Stadium’s Zero Waste initiative, Orlando City SC will become the only Orlando-based business, MLS team, and NWSL team that recycles its own materials onsite.

Items will be hand sorted and later turned into products that will be used throughout the venue. By creating its own Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at Exploria Stadium, the Club has been able to maximize the number of recycled products and, over the two year period from 2019-20, diverted 4.75 tons of plastic, 2 tons of cardboard, and over 16 tons of food waste from landfills.

The Lions will wear the PRIMEBLUE kits on May 29 when they travel to face the New York Red Bulls in a match presented by OUC. Following that contest, game worn kits will be auctioned off by the Orlando City Foundation with proceeds going to environment and sustainability efforts. In addition, five game-worn jerseys will all be part of MLS’s league-wide jersey swap initiative.
