Minnesota may not be Hollywood, but it has hosted many film crews over the years. The land of 10,000 lakes and Hollywood have been no stranger on the big screen - both in shooting locations, actors who were fictionally or non-fictionally one of us, stories, or virtual teams that have extensive affiliations within the State of Hockey. Of course, everyone knows A Prairie Home Companion, Fargo, Grumpy Old Men, and Purple Rain, but you might not realize these other movies were also filmed in Minnesota.

Here are three famous movies and films set in Minnesota:

The House of Tomorrow (2017)

The House of Tomorrow is about a futurist, architect, and inventor R Buckminster Fuller is told through the eyes of two high school students hoping to get laid, become punk gods, and survive. With his grandmother Josephine, Sebastian Prendergast lives in a dated tourist attraction called the House of Tomorrow. Sebastian longs to break away from his isolated existence, which quickly changes when he meets Jared Whitcomb, an up-and-coming punk rocker with a heart condition, and his sister Meredith. So Sebastian picks up a guitar and joins Jared in becoming a punk rock band to rebel.

I Am Not a Serial Killer (2016)

I Am Not a Serial Killer talks about an unhappy teen with homicidal tendencies struggles while hunting down a supernatural killer on the run from his inner demons in a small Midwestern town.

The story opened on a small-town street. Back in the car, a police officer talks with his partner. An ambulance sits in the street. Two EMTs bring back a stretcher with a body covered on it. The sheet has a significant bloody mark. As the deceased's body had been torn apart, the officer said he had never seen anything like it. A crowd of people was horrified when the EMTs jarred the body when trying to get the stretcher into the ambulance, leaving loose entrails on the ground. Eventually, they get the body inside and drive off. Except for one boy on a bicycle, our protagonist, John Wayne Cleaver (Max Records), the crowd disperses. John gets out of the way as the cops drive forward. The cops stop and ask John what his prognosis is. While his mother, April (Laura Fraser), and her sister, Margaret (Christina Baldwin), scrub up before their funeral, John bikes through the small town to his home, doubling as the funeral home. John jokes that at the very least, they will be able to make some money because a dead man was found in town. John and Margaret prepare a body of an older woman, instructing him not to joke about it.

There is a killer on the loose, and he is stalking cast members and crew members one by one. Jake Tanner, the show's director, his crew, and Hollywood starlet Blanca Champion become all too aware of the horrors of shooting this reality show as old suspicions, betrayals, and secrets come into play.
