Shia LaBeouf may be able to avoid any major legal consequences in his battery and petty theft case from 2020 if he stays out of trouble for 12 months, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported that the Peanut Butter Falcon star appeared in court on Thursday and was 'placed in a judicial diversion program', meaning that if he adheres to the requirements all the charges will be dropped.
The 34-year-old - who was spotted out for a bike right this week in Los Angeles - was charged in October over an alleged altercation with a man during the summer that ended with him stealing the man's hat and running away from the scene.

LaBeouf was facing a misdemeanor over the alleged incident but under the provisions of the diversion program the slate will be wiped clean.
According to TMZ, Shia must 'attend private therapy for anger management at least once a week, continue with his alcohol monitoring, no attempts to use or obtain a weapon and no attempts to use force or violence.'

If Shia satisfies those conditions over the course of 12 months - and keeps 100 yards away from the man from the incident - all will be forgiven.
The court will check in to see how things are progressing under the judicial diversion program in three months time.
Meanwhile, Shia looked like he was enjoying some good, clean fun on Wednesday as he took a bike ride in Pasadena.
The actor, who is sporting long hair and scruff rocked some retro 90s sunglasses and bike gloves while pedaling in the sunshine.
Bike riding seems to be the former Disney star's workout of choice these days as he is frequently spotted out and about on his two wheeler.
Prior to his most recent brush with the law, Shia has had several other run-ins in the past and was previously arrested for a druken scuffle in New York City in 2017.
He was also arrested in the same year for disorderly conduct in Savannah, Georgia when he became aggressive towards a police officer he had asked for a cigarette.
In 2014, he was arrested after disturbing a performance of the musical Cabaret on Broadway in New York.
He pled guilty to a disorderly conduct violation and he then received outpatient care for alcohol addiction.
That same year, Shia spoke to Interview magazine and admitted: 'I've been going through an existential crisis.'
According to the star his behavior and drug and alcohol use, as well as acting, has been his way to escape.
Recently, Shia's ex FKA Twigs - who dated the actor for nearly a year - sued him for sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress.
The lawsuit launched last December 2020 alleges he knowingly gave her an STD and abused her on several occasions during their relationship.
In response, Shia has 'denied each and every' assault allegation by the artist and wants her to pay his legal costs after she blamed him for 'relentless abuse'.
The former couple met on the set of the movie Honey Boy in 2018 and dated for nine months, splitting in May 2019 over 'conflicting work schedules'.
