The Hudson Yards Vessel In New York City reopens again under new conditions

The "Vessel" will reopen this Friday, on the eve of the "Memorial Day" holiday, which this year coincides with New York's required tourist reopening to rebuild the economy.

The 150-foot-high (45-meter) mega-sculpture "Vessel" and 154 interwoven stairs at Hudson Yards (NYC) were closed in January "until further notice," following a string of suicides by three young individuals, two of whom committed themselves in the weeks preceding it.

Instead of constructing taller glass barriers at the free-to-enter tourist viewpoint, the new security plan contains three parts to safeguard tourists, beginning with the need to come in groups of at least two individuals, as three of the three people who committed suicide arrived alone.

"Vessel was envisioned as a shared, immersive design experience," said a spokesperson for Hudson Yards Developer Related Companies.

"Requiring visitors to attend in groups of two or more significantly enhances the safety of the experience." He added. The three suicide victims arrived on their own. Furthermore, security personnel will be increased.

As part of it, Lifeline suicide prevention messaging will be produced in collaboration with the Born This Way Foundation, Lady Gaga's non-profit mental health initiative that assists at-risk adolescents. It will be shown on a sign at the viewpoint's entrance as well as on the access cards. “Our goal is to ensure that every visit to the Vessel is as safe as possible,” a Related spokesman said.

Tickets that were previously free will now cost $10 for guests aged 5 and above after the first hour of each day's opening. The funds received will be used "directly" to strengthen security. The passes will be available for purchase on this official website at noon today.

The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark.
