May 25 (UPI) -- Don Cheadle discussed playing basketball with former President Barack Obama while appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The actor said on Monday that he was invited to play with Obama by George Clooney while Obama was still president.

"The guy that was guarding him [Obama] on my team, it was 3-on-3, the guy wouldn't guard him really. Like guard him hard. I'm like, 'Yo we're playing basketball. I know he's the president but you have to foul this dude if he's going hard to the hole," Cheadle said before admitting that Obama's team won.

Cheadle noted that he believes Obama was playing for real, even though his teammate was not.

"I think he just honestly played straight up because I said in the game after he ran by, I said, 'Foul him.' And he turned around and said, 'Did you say foul him?' And I said, 'Yes Mr. President, I said foul you, or stop you,'" Cheadle said.

"He said, 'Yeah, play hard. Play like how you guys would play. And he [his teammate] couldn't do it. Too much respect," the Hollywood star continued.

Cheadle also stated that he got his revenge against Obama in golf, but that the politician also beat him in a game of H-O-R-S-E.

Cheadle currently stars in Season 3 of Showtime's Black Monday.

Obama was a recent guest on The Late Late Show and offered life and dating advice to Corden's staffers.
