The Great Outdoors: Explore Houston with scenic walks and photography
Are you itching to go outside and stretch your legs after more than a year of covid? Houston offers a great range of places to visit, especially if you love lush trees, the calming sound of splashing water, and vast fields. Plan a walk and bring your camera to some of the most beautiful sites in Houston.
This open green space offers great panoramic views of the city’s skyline. You can take an easy walk on the pedestrian walkways, snap some incredible pictures on the way, rent a bike, and even take a boat tour of the bayou.
If you’re a fan of sunsets, this is the place to be because the sunset would illuminate the high-rise buildings. A perfect and dramatic end to a relaxing day at the park.
Located 4 miles west of the city center, this oasis has a 5-mile walking path through a forest, a meadow, and ponds. Frogs, turtles, birds, and other wildlife will accompany you through your journey - so keep your camera ready.
If you need to sit down or take a break, you can visit the Discovery Room where aquariums, microscopes, and exhibits are showcased.
3. Water Wall
This 64-feet man-made waterfall is a laid-back spot perfectly designed for people-watching and picture-taking. If you love the feeling you get when you stand next to falling water in the summer, then this is the spot for you.
At dusk, the lights will illuminate the area and make the waterfall appears like it was floating up. Stand in the center of the circle and take amazing photos as you listen to the volume and sound of the water - an experience you won’t forget anytime soon.
Refresh your mind and body by visiting some (or all!) of these open spaces. Take advantage of the sunny summer weather and enjoy what Houston has to offer.
